Often, a sexless marriage leads to other issues, such as cheating or divorce. If you're living in a sexless marriage, you may not even know it.

That may seem strange, but some have a different idea of what a sexless marriage is and what it isn't. Most would say, this type of marriage is simply one without any sex. However, some would say it's one without enough sex.

To qualify the term, "sexless marriage," let's make it simple. If you're living in a marriage where you're not having as much sex as you want, you're not living in a sexless marriage. However, if you want sex every night or a few times a week and you're only having sex once a month, that is a sexless marriage.

You and your spouse may disagree on how much sex should be involved, which isn't a good thing. Many men cheat because they don't get enough sex and some women do, as well. The problem with a sexless marriage is that one or both of the partners are not getting their needs met.

Does this mean it's your wife or your husband's fault? No. Instead, it means that your spouse probably has a need you're not meeting. For example, maybe your wife really wants you to mow the lawn and vacuum the house. This means more to her than you could possibly imagine, but you don't do it. She didn't receive love from the acts of service she hoped you would do, so she doesn't want to show you love through sex.

This is just one example, but if you recognize that your marriage has become sexless, it's time to do something about it. If not, you may end up with bigger problems. A few common reasons for a sexless marriage include:

• No time for sex
• Depression
• Lack of communication
• Lack of attraction
• Childhood sexual abuse

Make sure you realize the problem and find a way to get to a solution, whether it's therapy or just communication between and your spouse.
